How to Use the Character Counter
Getting Started
Switch to the Utility tab and paste or type your text into the input area. All statistics — words, characters, sentences, paragraphs and reading time — update in real time as you type. You can also click Count Words to refresh the results manually.
What We Count
- Words — Sequences of characters separated by whitespace. Handles multiple spaces, tabs, and newlines correctly.
- Characters — Total character count including spaces.
- Characters (no spaces) — Character count excluding all whitespace.
- Sentences — Groups of text ending with periods, exclamation marks, question marks, or ellipses.
- Paragraphs — Blocks of text separated by blank lines.
- Reading Time — Estimated time to read the text at an average speed of 200 words per minute.
Privacy
Your text is processed entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Nothing is sent to any server. Your data stays on your device.
